The Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 provided means to protect those with incapacity, for example through part 6 of financial and welfare guardianship.
The Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 sets out powers and duties in relation to people with mental disorder including those who are subject to ill-treatment or neglect.
The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 (ASP) was passed by the Scottish Parliament in February 2007, Part 1 was implemented in October 2008.
The Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 governs the Children’s Hearings System. The Act entered into force on 24 June 2013. The 2011 Act revisits the whole Hearings System. In essence, the 2011 Act replaces Part II, Chapters 2 and 3, and Schedule 4 of the Children (Scotland) Act 1995 (the 1995 Act).
Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 empowers community bodies through the ownership or control of land and buildings, and by strengthening their voices in decisions about public services. Implemented in mid-2016.
